Law Firm Advisory Services
To lead a successful law firm takes more than legal excellence. It takes the ability to develop and retain great people, to build client relationships, and to run the firm as a business. These are skills that can be learned and they are the foundation of everything Addita does in its advisory practice.
Our advisory services are built around three integrated pillars. We do not offer a fixed menu of programs. We consult with you first, understand your firm’s specific situation, and then propose what will make the greatest difference.
PILLAR 1 - People & Leadership
Lawyers are promoted for technical excellence then expected to lead teams, manage performance, and develop the talent around them. This pillar addresses the gap between legal skill and leadership capability that no law school covers.
Leadership Development
Structured, practical capability building for partners and senior lawyers taking on leadership roles. Covers everything from managing underperformance and building team cohesion through to decision-making under pressure and transitioning effectively from senior lawyer to people leader.
Extended DISC Profiling
Extended DISC provides individuals with a detailed understanding of their own behavioural drivers and communication style; and how to read and adapt to the styles of others. It is an effective tool underpinning leadership and business development programs and leads to greater team effectiveness and client communication.
Leadership Strategy
Defining the firm’s leadership model, governance approach and succession pipeline. Particularly valuable for firms navigating growth, merger, leadership succession or cultural change. Delivered through facilitated workshops, partnership retreats or an ongoing advisory retainer.
Performance Management
Frameworks and practical capability for managing lawyers and staff effectively; from goal setting and feedback through to managing underperformance constructively. Covers both the framework design and the interpersonal skills needed to apply it well.
PILLAR 2 - Performance & Growth
Technical excellence gets lawyers to seniority. Commercial capability is what builds a sustainable practice. This pillar builds the business development skills and confidence that drive firm growth — through structured training, individual coaching, and firm-level strategy.
Business Development Skills - Programs for Senior Lawyers
A structured, six to ten session programs designed specifically for Senior Associates, Special Counsel and Partners, preparing for partnership track. Each session builds on the previous, moving from self-understanding and positioning through client relationship development, effective pitching, and building sustainable business development habits.
The program is practical and applied – not theory. Participants leave with a clear personal business development strategy and the confidence to act on it.
One-to-One Business Development Coaching
Personalised business development coaching for partners and Senior Associates who want to develop their practice on their own terms. Sessions are structured around the individual and firm’s specific situation, live opportunities and personal goals, there is no fixed curriculum.
Marketing Strategy
Positioning, differentiation and strategic prioritisation of where the firm invests its profile-building activity. Not advertising but clarity of message, alignment of marketing effort to business development activity, and a focused strategy for building the firm’s reputation in the markets that matter most.
Financial Reporting & Commercial Literacy
Ensuring that financial reporting gives firm leadership the visibility they need, and that partners and practice group leaders have the commercial literacy to interpret and act on what they receive. Covers reporting design, key metrics and building commercial confidence across the partnership.
PILLAR 3 - Platform & Systems
Most firms have accumulated technology reactively — responding to immediate needs rather than building a coherent platform. This pillar is delivered in close collaboration with a specialist senior consulting colleague who brings 30 years of operational leadership at national firm level.
IT Roadmap & Strategic Technology Review
A structured, independent review of the firm’s current technology landscape — what it has, what it is spending, what it is using effectively, and where the gaps are. The output is a prioritised IT roadmap with concrete recommendations for rationalisation, investment and sequencing. The emphasis is on identifying cost savings first, then building the right platform for the firm’s future.
Financial Systems Strategy
Reviewing the firm’s financial systems and the management information they produce – ensuring leadership has the visibility and the tools to make well-informed commercial decisions. Often delivered alongside the IT roadmap review as a combined engagement.
